Area Students Awarded with Community Based Scholarships

Throughout the month of May, Todd Vangsness, President of United Community Bank – Minot, made three  unique surprise visits to area schools to recognize and award three high school seniors with a $1000 scholarship.

The Our Community Scholarship Fund has been put in place to recognize and award area high school seniors who have given their time through non-profit and community service organizations to help make our communities a better place. In addition to the scholarship, each awarded student had the opportunity to choose a local non-profit organization to receive a $500 donation on the student’s behalf.

The Our Community Scholarship recipients and selected non-profits were:

Turtle Lake/Mercer Public School: Trey Klain – The Lord’s Pantry

Minot High School: Rhett Pederson – Boy Scout Troup 433

Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood Public School: Mikaylee Bahl – Domestic Violence Crisis Center
